GUWAHATI: In a major success story against drug trafficking, the Assam Special Task Force conducted a raid on the rented house of Mr. Vijay Singh on K.K. Road in Nabagraha Hills in the evening hours of December 2, 2024.
Acting on reliable intelligence, the team raided the rented house. The operation resulted in the arrest of a notorious peddler of drugs and apprehension of illegal substances as well as other items considered incriminating.
While storming the premises, STF police recovered 16 soap boxes containing a substance suspected to be heroin weighing a total of 214.81 grams in weight excluding the soap box. Apart from the contraband, the officials also took into custody some cash amounting to Rs 1,06,700 and a mobile phone; these items are suspected to be related to the sale of illicit drugs.
The arrested person has been identified as Sona Miya, son of the late Ali Hussain, aged 40 years. He was living in the house on rent under the care of Mr. Vijay Singh, at House No. 43A, on K.K. Road, Dr. Biren Bhattacharya Road, Nabagraha Hills, Kamrup (Metro) district. The permanent address of Sona Miya has been found to be recorded in Kokila village, under Abhayapuri Police Station of Bongaigaon district, Assam.
The STF is currently finalizing all formal legal procedures, leaving no aspect of the evidence undocumented to prepare for further legal follow-up. This operation will highlight the seriousness Assam's law enforcement agencies carry in addressing the drug situation in the region.
This successful raid sends a stern message to anyone engaging in drug-related illegal activities; this reflects the vigilance and efficiency of the STF Assam in its efforts to protect the community.
