GUWAHATI: Residents of various areas in the city have complained that the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has been supplying muddy water over the last few days.
The affected areas include Uzanbazar, Kharguli, Nepali Mandir, Nabagrah, Krishna Nagar, Amiya Nagar, Chandmari etc. The affected residents pointed out that the muddy water posed a health hazard to numerous families.
Even DIG Violet Baruah took to Facebook and posted a photo of the muddy water supplied by the GMC at her home in Kharguli. She mentioned that even domestic water purifiers cannot clean such dirty water. According to GMC sources, excessive rainfall and concurrent cleaning of the water treatment plants may be responsible for the supply of muddy water.
