GUWAHATI: On the occasion of the death anniversary of the historic martyr of the Quit India Movement, Shaheed Kushal Konwar, the Kamrup Metropolitan District Administration paid heartfelt tribute to the great son of Mother India today.
A tribute ceremony was organized at Nehru Park, Guwahati, by the Kamrup Metropolitan District Administration to mark the occasion. The event was graced by Chandramohan Patowary, Minister of Environment and Forests and other departments of the Government of Assam, who attended as the chief guest and offered floral tributes to the statue of Shaheed Kushal Konwar.
Expressing his deep respect for the martyred patriot, Minister Patowary said, “This sacred day reminds us of the ultimate sacrifice made for the nation. Shaheed Kushal Konwar gladly laid down his life in the service of the country. His martyrdom continues to inspire us immensely. We should all strive to follow in the footsteps of such a noble and great individual.”
In keeping with the spirit of the tribute ceremony, an all-faith prayer meet was also held. Devotees from Kasturba Seva Ashram recited verses from the Gita and Upanishads, Hafiz Maulana Mostakim Nazir read from the Quran, Bhagat Singh from the Sikh holy texts, Kshemananda Bhikkhu from the Tripitaka, and Dipen Barua read from the Bible.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Guwahati Municipal Corporation Mayor Mrigen Sarania, Deputy Mayor Mukuta Deka, Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner Sumit Sattawan and others.
