Guwahati: In a move to ensure the smooth, spiritual, and well-coordinated execution of the upcoming Ambubachi Mela 2025, Assam Tourism Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass chaired two high-level review meetings in Guwahati on Monday. The annual religious congregation, scheduled to be held from June 22 to June 26 at the revered Kamakhya Temple, draws lakhs of devotees from across the country.

The first meeting was held at the Kamrup Metropolitan Deputy Commissioner’s office, where Minister Dass emphasized the importance of creating a sanctified and environmentally responsible atmosphere for the pilgrims. He instructed all departments concerned to extend a heartfelt welcome to devotees arriving from outside Assam, showcasing the hospitality of the state government.

Reinforcing a collaborative approach, the Minister advised all departments to coordinate closely with ward commissioners within a 3-km radius of the main event site to ensure effective ground-level execution. He stressed the need to avoid minor processional disruptions and to maintain a unified spiritual ambiance through proper sound systems, crowd management, and clear communication among officials.

A second review meeting was conducted at the Kamakhya Tourist Lodge, where inter-departmental coordination and logistical preparedness were discussed in detail. The meeting was attended by the Commissioner of Kamrup Metropolitan District, Sumit Sattawan; Director of Tourism, Ranoj Barua Kataky; and senior representatives from 24 Guwahati-based departments.

As part of the preparations, four dedicated camps will be set up at Pandu Ghat to facilitate pilgrims. Following the meetings, Minister Dass visited the proposed camp locations and issued directives to expedite setup and ensure seamless arrangements.

A follow-up meeting to review progress and finalize strategies will be held on June 16 at the DC’s office. The state government is taking comprehensive steps to ensure that the Ambubachi Mela 2025 is a safe, hygienic, and spiritually enriching experience for all visitors.
