GUWAHATI: Two young men sustained serious injuries after their scooter crashed in the Jalukbari area of Guwahati on Saturday. The incident occurred on National Highway 27, directly in front of the Hotel Radisson Blu, a busy location known for heavy traffic.

The victims of the incident have been identified as Ritu Kumar and Mintu Pal. Based on eyewitness accounts, the duo were reportedly riding their scooter in an irresponsible manner, posing a risk not just to themselves but also to other commuters of the road. The reported high-speed handling was said to have caused the accident, where both riders sustained major injuries.

A similar tragic road accident happened yesterday where three members of a family— a father, mother and their 7-year-old child—lost their lives, while two other minors of the same family are battling for their lives in Assam's Cachar district on Thursday. The accident occurred at around 3 pm in the Ramnagar area near Tarapur, Silchar.

The family, residents of Srikona, were travelling in an autorickshaw from ISBT towards Tarapur when a speeding, soil-laden truck from the opposite direction rammed into their vehicle with brute force.

Nejarul Haque, his wife Afsana Begum, and their 7-year-old son Tamim Ahmed unfortunately died on the spot. Meanwhile, at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital, their two other children, daughter Tajmina Akhter and son Shamim Ahmed, are still fighting for their lives.
