Guwahati: Guwahati Police nabbed two women over suspicion of baby lifting from Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) here on Wednesday night.
The two women named Pramila Deka and Bijita Das were seen roaming around the Gynecology ward of GMCH.
Reportedly, a security guard and other people heard their conversations about supplying babies to some unknown people.
Following their conversation, GMCH authorities immediately called the police and both of them were nabbed.
It has also come to the fore that these women were in touch with a mother of a newborn baby and were negotiating a baby for Rs 5,000.
Notably, on April 13, a seven-month-old baby boy, named Priyam Kalita of Hajo, was stolen from GMCH. However, the baby is yet to be recovered.
