Guwahati: In a successful raid, the Crime Intelligence Branch (CIB), of RPF Guwahati apprehended a tout involved in the illegal sale of railway e-tickets. Acting on a tip-off, Inspector Vikram of CIB Guwahati, along with his team, conducted a raid at Baba Loknath Hair Cutting Salon located in Gandhi Basti on Monday.
During the operation, officials recovered 17 railway e-tickets worth Rs 28,513.50, along with a computer set used to generate the tickets. The owner of the salon, Arun Kumar Thakur, was taken into custody. Preliminary investigation revealed that Thakur had been unauthorizedly booking and supplying railway tickets through his personal IRCTC user ID, despite not being an authorized IRCTC agent.
A case has been registered under Section 143 of the Railways Act, vide No. 2161/25. Further investigation is underway.
