GUWAHATI: The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, has launched the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2025, a national platform designed to empower young minds and encourage them to engage in meaningful discussions on topics of national importance. This initiative aligns with the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047, a roadmap for a developed India, and provides a stage for the youth to contribute their ideas on governance, policy, and leadership. Inspired by the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this ambitious programme is being implemented through the MY Bharat Portal to reach young individuals across the country.
The youth parliament will be conducted in three phases, starting from the district level, followed by the state level, and culminating in the national-level event at Samvidhan Sadan, New Delhi. The Gauhati University NSS Cell has been designated as the Nodal Centre for organising the District Level Youth Parliament, covering the districts of Kamrup, Nalbari, Bajali, Baksa, and Tamulpur. The programme is open to youth between the ages of 18 and 25 years as of February 24, 2025, offering them a unique opportunity to present their perspectives on key national issues. To participate, interested candidates must create a one-minute video on the topic "What does Viksit Bharat mean to you?" and upload it on the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament event page on the Mera Yuva Bharat Portal on or before March 16, 2025.
To ensure a fair and transparent selection process, distinguished academicians, journalists, public representatives, senior officials, and other eminent personalities will be involved in evaluating participants at each stage. This initiative is being implemented at the district and state levels with the support of the Higher Education Department, School Education Department, Youth Affairs and Sports Department, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, and the National Service Scheme (NSS) of the respective state governments.
