GUWAHATI: A district-level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament was organized by Gauhati University’s NSS Cell in association with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Kamrup, Guwahati, on March 21-March 22, 2025, at the GU campus.
Welcoming the guest and dignitaries, Dr Ranjan Kr Kakati, Director, Students’ Welfare and Programme Coordinator NSS Cell Gauhati University, said that Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament (VBYP) is an initiative designed to engage and empower the youth of India by involving them in the country’s democratic processes.
The programme’s main goal is to provide young individuals with a platform where they can understand and experience the functioning of the Indian parliamentary system while also helping them develop essential skills such as leadership, public speaking, debating, and critical thinking.
Inaugurating the VBYP, Dinobandhu Saha, State Director, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan Guwahati Assam, said that youths are the future of our country, and all youths should take part in the biggest movement of democracy in India and should showcase their hidden talents on a national platform.
150 youths from the district of Kamrup, Nalbari, Barpeta, Bajali, Baksa, and Tamulpur took part in the speech competition on the topic “One Nation, One Election: Paving the Way for Viksit Bharat.
Jangjilong, Regional Director, NSS, NER, Guwahati, attended the programme as guest of honour and appealed to the youths to take the opportunities of my bharat portal stated a press release.
