Guwahati: The 48th edition of the Beltola Bohagi Utsav is set to take place from April 24 to April 26 at the Beltola School playground. This annual festival, celebrated with much enthusiasm, will feature a variety of cultural events showcasing Assam’s rich traditions and heritage.
In a general meeting held on Saturday, the Beltola Bohagi Utsav Committee announced that the prestigious Bhupen Hazarika Award 2025 will be conferred upon the renowned Assamese singer Zubeen Garg. The award, named after the legendary musician and cultural icon Bhupen Hazarika, carries a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh, along with a Bhupen Hazarika memorial, a memento, and a seleng. The award ceremony will take place on April 25, where Zubeen Garg will be honoured for his outstanding contributions to Assamese music and culture.
The festival will feature an array of traditional competitions, including ‘Paat Madoi’, ‘Bihu Husori’, ‘Dhulia-Pepua’ competitions. The winner of the ‘Paat Madoi’ competition will be awarded Rs 2 lakh, while the ‘Bihu Husori’ competition offers a first prize of Rs 1 lakh and a second prize of Rs 51,000. Meanwhile, the ‘Dhulia-Pepua’ competition winner will receive a cash prize of Rs 25,000.
Apart from these competitions, the Beltola Bohagi Utsav will also showcase mesmerizing performances by both veteran and contemporary artists. The festival’s musical lineup includes JP Das, Jayanta Nath, Dilip Das, Santa Uzir, Malabika Bora, Namita Bhattacharjya, Sandhya Menon, Anju Devi, Queen Das, Anima Choudhury, Zublee Baruah, and several other talented singers. Adding to the excitement, Assam’s pride, Zubeen Garg, will also take the stage.
With its diverse lineup of events and performances, the Beltola Bohagi Utsav promises to be a grand celebration of Assamese culture, music, and tradition. Enthusiasts from across the state are expected to gather to witness and participate in this cultural extravaganza.
