GUWAHATI: Marking an important milestone in enhancing specialized healthcare for mothers and children, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today inaugurated the 100-bedded Neotia Bhagirathi women and childcare Centre in Guwahati today. Established as an offshoot of an MoU with the Assam government, this facility results from Assam’s ongoing progress in expanding quality medical infrastructure across the state.

It may be noted that the launch of this 100-bed woman and child super-speciality hospital of Ambuja Neotia Healthcare Venture Limited in Guwahati would lead to providing comprehensive and high-quality medical care to women and children throughout Assam and the wider North-Eastern region.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma said that Guwahati, as an important healthcare hub for the Northeast as well as ASEAN countries, presents an opportunity to strengthen the region’s medical infrastructure. Through this state-of-the-art mother and child care facility, an attempt has been made to bring advanced clinical care, cutting-edge technology, and specialized services to women and children—not only in Assam but across the neighbouring states. He also said that this facility, dedicated to women and children, is expected to provide specialized, high-quality care across obstetrics, gynaecology, neonatology, infertility, and paediatrics.

Chief Minister Dr. Sarma also said that the present state government has a deep focus on creating healthcare facilities as well as making medical education more accessible. Therefore, the government is working to set up 24 medical colleges across the state. He also informed that considering the ever-increasing medical demand, the government has decided to augment the existing facilities of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital. He said that steps have been taken to transform it into a 5000-bedded hospital. Moreover, in view of the growing need of the students as well as the patients, Guwahati is catering to their demands through two medical colleges and hospitals in the city.

Earlier, Chairman of Ambuja Neotia Group Harshvardhan Neotia gave a brief presentation about the new hospital in Assam.
