Guwahati: Health Minister Ashok Singhal today conducted a comprehensive review meeting of the functioning of the Health and Family Welfare Department in the conference hall of his office at Janata Bhawan.
During the meeting, Minister Singhal primarily reviewed various functions of the department, implementation of schemes, and inter-departmental coordination, among other recent developments. He also reviewed the measures taken by the Health Department to prevent the spread of Japanese Encephalitis (JE), which has seen a surge in several districts of the state.
The Minister instructed the department to place special emphasis on preventing the disease from spreading to new individuals alongside treating existing patients. He also directed that precautionary measures such as regular fogging and water purification be intensified in the affected areas. Furthermore, the Minister instructed the department to take special steps to begin vaccination against Japanese Encephalitis for adults in vulnerable districts from the month of October.
While reviewing the overall functioning of the Health and Family Welfare Department, Minister Singhal also reviewed the upcoming implementation of the Swasthya Van Shramik Yojana for tea garden areas in the state. He directed departmental officials to involve both the tea garden management and active local youth from these areas in implementing the scheme.
The meeting also discussed topics such as health fairs, Swasthya Seva Dapon, Tele-MANAS services, rationalization of posts and transfer policy of officers and staff of the Health and Family Welfare Department, and the implementation of the Snehasparsha scheme. Additionally, the meeting formally approved the State Ayurvedic Policy.
