GUWAHATI: Following the revised Standard operating procedure (SOP) from the government of Assam, the Kamakhaya Devalaya in Guwahati will close down for its devotees effective May 13.

The temple management committee said it has decided not to open the temple for public worship until further notice due to a spike in the number of COVID-19 cases in Assam.

It is to be mentioned here that due to the pandemic, the temple remained shut throughout the duration of Ambubachi Mela in 2020, perhaps for the first time in its history.
