GUWAHATI: A case of infidelity came to the forefront, which led to the tragic death of a woman by her paramour at Garoghuli in the Boragaon area last night. The victim has been identified as Rita Das. According to police sources, Rita Das has been married for 13 years to Abani Das, and they have two sons, one of 13 years and the other of 8 years. Rita had an extramarital affair with Niranjan Gohain. But things took a turn for the worse when Niranjan Gohain came to Rita’s place on Sunday night, locked her family inside, and attacked her husband and two sons with a sharp iron rod. When Rita tried to rescue her family members, Niranjan stabbed her, resulting in her death. After murdering her, he attacked her husband and sons and injured them.
The husband and sons were admitted to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). According to sources, before entering the victim’s place, Niranjan killed their pet dog. Later, Niranjan Gohain hanged himself in the victim’s room.
