Guwahati: In a bid to strengthen cleanliness and hygiene initiatives under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Guwahati Mayor Mrigen Sarania conducted a sanitation inspection in Dakshingaon, Ward No. 41, on Thursday.
The visit aimed to review ongoing waste management efforts and address sanitation-related issues in the locality. Mayor Sarania assessed garbage disposal practices and directed Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) officials to take swift and effective measures to keep the area clean and well-maintained.
Interacting with residents during the visit, the Mayor urged community cooperation in maintaining cleanliness. “We are committed to keeping this area clean, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing,” he said, emphasizing the importance of public participation in civic upkeep. Mayor Sarania was accompanied by Ward No. 41 Councillor Basanti Kalita Duarah, Executive Engineer of Division No. 5 Hiranya Kumar Hazarika, and other GMC officials. Local residents expressed appreciation for the administration’s proactive approach to sanitation and pledged their support for future initiatives.
