GUWAHATI: In the run-up to the panchayat poll in the state, the APCC (Assam Pradesh Congress Committee) held a separate meeting with its sister concerns at Rajiv Bhavan today. AICC general secretary Jitendra Singh, who is the Assam in-charge of the party, was present at the meeting.

The APCC held its first meeting with all district presidents and discussed the party’s organizational strengths in upper Assam, central Assam, lower Assam, and the Barak Valley. It also held separate talks with the Mahila Congress, Youth Congress, NSUI, and Congress Sevadal on strategies regarding the forthcoming panchayat poll in the state.

Following an instruction from the AICC, APCC president Bhupen Borah declared a ‘March to Raj Bhawan’ programme on December 18 in protest against the situation in Manipur and the issues concerning Gautam Adani.

The APCC will hold its crucial meeting with the party’s political affairs committee on Sunday.
