Revolver and 16 Live Rounds Seized at Guwahati Railway Station

Government Railway Police seized a .32mm Webley & Scott revolver and 16 live rounds from three persons intercepted at Guwahati Railway Station late at night.

Three individuals were apprehended by the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Guwahati Railway Station after a revolver and live ammunition were recovered from their possession during a late-night interception on Thursday.

The operation took place at around 11:20 pm, when a GRP team stopped the trio as they entered the station from the Paltan Bazar side.

During the search, one of the individuals — identified as Debia Tara, a resident of Lower Subansiri district in Arunachal Pradesh — was found carrying a .32mm Webley & Scott revolver along with 16 rounds of live ammunition.

The other two persons detained were identified as Binam Hazong from Dhemaji district in Assam, and Lishi Setam, 27, also from Lower Subansiri district in Arunachal Pradesh.

The weapon and ammunition were seized on the spot.

A case has been registered under the Arms Act, 1959. Investigators are now working to determine the origin of the firearm and the purpose behind the trio carrying it into a busy public transit hub.

Further details are expected to emerge as the probe progresses.
