GUWAHATI: Cases of COVID-19-related assistance being sought from the 104 medical helpline and the e-Sanjeevani OPD by members of the public have increased in concert with the spurt in pandemic patients in Assam.
According of officials of the National Health Mission (NHM), Assam, as many as 24,015 inbound COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 calls have been received between January 1 and 2 pm of Saturday. Among others, these include 621 COVID-19-related queries and grievances, 208 mental health-related calls and 20,425 health consultation calls.
On Saturday alone, 1,163 COVID-19 patients were given consultation and 2,182 COVID-19 home isolation follow-up calls were made till 2pm.
On the other hand, a total of 15,489 tele-consultations have been done via e-Sanjeevani OPD between January 1 and 2 pm on Saturday. Of these, 154 tele-consultations were done on Saturday alone.
It is worthy of mention that there were 15,267 active COVID-19 cases in Assam as on Friday. The worst-hit districts in terms of positive COVID-19 cases between January 5 and January 14 include Kamrup (M) with 6,835 cases, Cachar with 1,348 cases and Jorhat with 1,077 cases. Other severely affected districts are Kamrup (968 cases), Dibrugarh (967 cases), Tinsukia (702 cases), Sonitpur (528 cases) and Karimganj (509 cases).
