GUWAHATI: Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Guwahati, observed Swachhata Pakhwada from 1st July 2025 with a strong commitment to cleanliness and environmental awareness. The initiative commenced with the Swachhata Oath administered by Sri K.N. Mohan, Scientist-G and Head of RMC Guwahati, inspiring all officials to actively contribute to a cleaner workplace and society.
A series of impactful activities were organized, including thorough cleaning of office premises and nearby areas, tree plantation drives and measures to reduce plastic usage. Sailen Saikia, Scientific Officer, Reeta Brahma Gayari, Meteorologist, Doli Haloi, Meteorologist, Sandipa Bhattacharya, Administrative Officer and Chinmoyee Gogoi, Meteorologist actively led the swachaata programmes in the office.
A highlight of the observance was a special lecture on 11th July 2025 by noted journalist Chandrani Sinha, who specializes in climate change, health and environmental issues. Her talk, titled ‘Data, Drains & Disasters: The Hidden Link between Weather Forecasts and Cleanliness’, shed light on the critical intersection of meteorology and public hygiene.

Scientist-F expressed gratitude to all RMC officials for their proactive participation and dedication to the Swachhata mission. Aman, Scientific Assistant delivered vote of thanks.
