State BJP celebrates Rabha Divas with cultural tribute and felicitations

Guwahati: Commemorating the death anniversary of cultural icon Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha, the state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), organized a vibrant cultural programme titled “Surare Deulare” at the State BJP Headquarters on Friday.

The day-long event, led by the party’s State Cultural Cell, began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by renowned doctor and singer Dr. Hitesh Baruah. In his welcome address, State Cultural Cell Convener Bidyasagar Bora paid tribute to Rabha’s enduring legacy and greeted the assembled guests, artists, and party members.

The event featured stirring group songs by Cultural Cell members and evocative poetry recitations by Dibyajyoti Das, Pol Phukan, Bhagawata Pratim, and Bidyasagar Bora, capturing the spirit of Kalaguru’s message of cultural and social uplift.

To mark the occasion, the BJP felicitated distinguished individuals from the fields of art and agriculture. Among the awardees were veteran Assamese singer Anima Choudhury, folk artistre Gopinath Rabha, and farmers Amal Bharali (Rangia), Sanjay Changakoti (Sonapur), and Lalita Bangrung (Chandrapur), recognized for their exemplary contributions.
