GUWAHATI: Guwahati Police Commissioner Harmeet Singh on Wednesday told media persons that ongoing investigation into the murder of the elderly couple has revealed that the iron grill in the back of their house at Beltola Chandanagar had been broken from the inside in order to mislead the police.
Singh also said that there were no fingerprints in the broken window on the top floor of the house. It is suspected that perpetrator/perpetrators of the crime had probably mixed sedatives in the food of the couple. Police also said that a stone grinder was used to hit the couple on the head, which ultimately led to their death. Police have arrested the couple's caretaker, Akash Choudhury and picked up four others for questioning. They are John Saikia, Buddhadev, Satyendra Singh and Paresh Choudhury.
