GUWAHATI: Appealing the government to consider their issue, the Sodou Asom Bikhekh TET Utirno Niyog Banchito Sikshamitra Gut (SABTUNBSG) throws a hint to fight with the help of law if they do not receive any clarification regarding their appointment.
Addressing the media at the Guwahati Press Club on Friday, president of the Gut Shamsul Hoque said, “The sikshamitras have been offering their service since 1996 in different rural areas. After the extreme protest taken by the Sikshamitra Santha Assam, the schools were upgraded to lower primary school under the government of Assam, but our jobs were not ensured. After various discussions, it was decided by the government of Assam to appoint the sikshmitras by conducting three special TET. Hence, each of the sikshamitras got their appointment in the first phase whereas in the second and last phase, a total of 351among 1472 TET qualified sikshamitras remained deprived of getting their appointment, due to the fact that they have crossed the highest age limit to get appointed.”
Hoque further added, “We have full faith upon the Assam government that they will show a little consideration towards us and we want to appeal to the education and finance minister to take initiative for our appointment. We want to ask that is it our mistake that our age limit has crossed and the result declared on September 4, 2017, of the TET examination that was held back on October 19, 2014. It is because of their delay in announcing the results that our upper age limit crossed.”
The sikshamitras present in the press meet claimed that when they approached the then Education Minister who advised them to approach the High Court because of the issue related to their age and also told them to complete D.EL.ED course. One of the Sikshamitra claimed, “As per his advice, we completed our course but still we have not received what we deserve. Even the high Court appealed the government to consider our issue from the perspective of humanity. So, we request the respective department not to deprive us of what we deserve. The government has still time to think of the issue, as we’ve not taken any violent action to date and we want to solve the issues through discussion. This is our last appeal, if no initiative is taken, we will fight with the help of law.”
