Three arrested in North Guwahati with Rs 3.82 lakh in counterfeit currency after police chase

Police arrested three alleged members of a fake currency racket and seized counterfeit notes with a face value of Rs 3.82 lakh following a chase near the Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu in North Guwahati.

GUWAHATI: Police arrested three alleged members of a fake currency racket and seized counterfeit notes with a face value of Rs 3.82 lakh following a chase near the Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu in North Guwahati. The arrested were identified as Chinmoy Kalita of Rangia, Rashid Ali of Kalaigaon and Mohammad Sahil Ali of Chhaygaon. They were travelling in an Eon car bearing the registration number AS 23X 3739, which police alleged carried a fake number plate. During the search, police recovered counterfeit currency notes amounting to Rs 3,82,600, including fake Rs 100 and Rs 500 notes, from the vehicle. Police also detained another person from Jalukbari in North Guwahati on suspicion of being linked to the racket.
