Two Assam Panchayats Win National Panchayat Awards 2024

Two Assam panchayats, Jengrai Panchayat in Majuli and Bebejia Demow Bangthai Gaon Panchayat in Nagaon, have won national panchayat awards 2024, bringing pride to the state.

GUWAHATI: Two panchayats from Assam-the Jengrai Panchayat in the Majuli district and the Bebejia Demow Bangthai Gaon Panchayat in the Nagaon district-have brought laurels to the state by bagging national panchayat awards 2024.

The awards will be presented by President Droupadi Murmu on December 11, 2024, at a grand ceremony in New Delhi.

The Jengrai Panchayat in Majuli District has won the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar (DDUPSP) under the Child-friendly Panchayat category. Additionally, the Bebejia Demow Bangthai Gaon Panchayat in Nagaon district has secured the second prize under the Nanaji Deshmukh Sarvottam Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar (NDSSVPP) for Best Gram Panchayat.

The Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development, Ranjeet Kumar Dass, has congratulated the two panchayats and the department officials for this achievement. He stated that these awards reflect the progress made in rural development and grassroots-level initiatives in Assam.
