GUWAHATI: Faizuddin, who is accused of murdering a woman initially identified as Tazlima Khatoon, was remanded to five days' police custody by the CJM Court here on Monday.
Faizuddin was absconding after the murder was discovered, but he was finally nabbed from Hotel Nirala at Cooch Behar in West Bengal on Sunday.
According to police sources, the victim was neither named Tazlima and nor was she Faizuddin's wife. According to latest information, she was one Nasreen alias Amisha Khatoon, a resident of Hatsingimari in the Dhubri district. However, this information will be confirmed once the relatives concerned come to the city and identify the deceased woman.
The police sources said that Faizuddin had murdered the woman after she demanded Rs 18,000 from him on the day of the crime.
The sources said that apart from his wife, Faizuddin has contact with multiple women. The sources added that thought the murder was discovered on January 25, it had occurred on January 23.
