PANAJI: Assam’s renowned filmmaker Kenny Basumatary's first Bodo film, ‘Bibo Binanao’ (My Three Sisters), premiered at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.

The movie is produced by the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC). The genre of the movie is 'dramedy' that depicts the story of four sisters in rural Bodoland.

The character of the youngest sister is portrayed by Pancy Brahma, Mizi, who supports her siblings as they navigate through various challenges, including raising chickens, coping with family losses, enduring an abusive husband, facing life-threatening health issues, and overcoming other obstacles that life presents.

The remaining three sisters are portrayed by Sangeena Brahma, Helina Diamary, and Mithinga Narzary.

Kenny Basumatary stated that “it was an absolute pleasure to work with all these actresses. They were always prepared with their dialogue, so we could happily shoot long takes without having to cut frequently. And they all have fabulous scenes that they’ve performed exactly as I envisioned.”

Kenny Basumatary shared the red carpet at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) with Kulanandini Mahanta, who is a prominent national award-winning director widely known for the remarkable films 'Amis' and 'Emuthi Puthi'.

She also contributed as the production designer on 'Bibo Binanao' with Alex Leo Pou, executive producer from NDFC. Kenny Basumatary walked the red carpet again as a part of the team "Swargarath," featured in the Panorama section of IFFI in Goa.

Kenny expressed his initial concerns by stating, “We were actually apprehensive. Who on earth would come to watch a Boro film, and that too by me—I'm not exactly a festival-famous director. But to our pleasant surprise, around 70 people turned up. While the film isn’t an out-and-out comedy, it was good to hear the audience laugh at the right places. Many of them came up to us after the end and said that they really liked it.”

Kenny concluded his speech by stating that the people can watch the upcoming film 'Bibo Binanao’ at the Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival (BVFF), which will be hosted in Guwahati. He also mentioned that this movie will premier for the competition section but the date for the release is not yet decided.
