Kangana Ranaut's Emergency Crosses Rs. 10 Crore at Box Office Amid Mixed Reception

NEW DELHI: Kangana Ranaut's much-anticipated film, Emergency, finally hit theatres last week after facing multiple delays. The biographical political thriller, which explores former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's declaration of Emergency in 1975, sees Kangana not only starring but also taking on the roles of producer, writer, and director. According to the latest box office report, the film has crossed the Rs. 10 crore mark.

According to the report, Emergency earned Rs. 0.93 crore on its fourth day of release, marking the film's lowest single-day collection so far. The total box office earnings now stand at Rs. 11.28 crore. The film opened with Rs. 2.5 crore on its first day and showed slight growth over the weekend, collecting Rs. 3.6 crore on the second day and Rs. 4.25 crore on the third day. On its fourth day in theatres, Emergency recorded a Hindi occupancy rate of 6.50%.

On Monday, Kangana shared a video message on Instagram, where she expressed gratitude to fans for their support of the film and addressed the protests in Canada and Britain over its release. She said, "Doston mere film, mere vichaar aur mera desh ke prati kya lagav hai woh iss film se pradarshit hota hai. Aap yeh film dekh ke khud nirnaye lijiye kya yeh film hume jodti hai ya todti hai. (My principles and my attachment towards my country are proven through this film. You watch the film and decide if it breaks us or brings us together)"

Emergency, a period political thriller co-produced by Zee Studios and Kangana Ranaut's Manikarnika Films, features an ensemble cast including Anupam Kher, Satish Kaushik, Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhary, and Milind Soman, among others.
