Following the tragic death of Noida resident Twisha Sharma, actor Ridhi Dogra shared a powerful message on social media, urging young people to stop “romanticising marriage” and rethink modern relationships.

Twisha, who married Bhopal-based Samarth Singh in December 2025, died on May 12. Her family has accused her husband and mother-in-law, retired judge Giribala Singh, of mental harassment and dowry abuse. Police have registered a case, and an SIT is investigating the matter.

Reacting to the incident, Ridhi said marriage today is no longer about survival or blind obedience, especially as women are now financially and legally empowered. In her Instagram post, she stressed that women do not need marriage for dependency, but may seek it for companionship and mutual respect.

She also advised young women against expecting “fairy-tale” marriages and reminded them to become independent and stand up for themselves. At the same time, she acknowledged that many men are also struggling to adapt to changing social norms and expectations.

Addressing feminism, Ridhi said the idea has been misunderstood over time. According to her, true feminism is simply about equality, not putting men down. She added that discussions around mental health and gender issues should include both men and women.

Ending her note on a hopeful message, Ridhi referred to the balance of “Shiv and Shakti,” saying healthy relationships can only survive through love, respect, grace, and dignity for both partners equally. (ANI)
