NEW DELHI: Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles, Pabitra Margherita, will head a prominent Indian delegation to the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair, taking place on April 18–19, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This visit is under the ASEAN-India Tourism Professionals Exchange Programme 2025 that seeks to promote tourism cooperation between ASEAN and India.

The move comes as the year 2025 has been declared as the "ASEAN-India Year of Tourism" during last year's 21st ASEAN-India Summit. Organized in partnership with the Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) and funded by the ASEAN-India Fund, the programme seeks to strengthen regional cooperation while highlighting India’s extensive tourism potential, particularly in the North-East region.

The Indian delegation would consist of key players from the tourism sector, such as tour operators and industry specialists, who would exhibit a variety of tourism products from India. The event would be aimed at promoting mutual understanding, establishing professional alliances, and creating new opportunities for economic and cultural exchanges between India and ASEAN countries.

In addition to visiting the fair, MoS Pabitra Margherita will also hold bilateral meetings with leading businesspeople and members of the Indian diaspora community in Malaysia, enhancing people-to-people contacts and trade between India and Malaysia even further.
