Guwahati: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah on Monday said that Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan should apologize for his vague statement as he has not only insulted BJP candidate Jaya Prada but also insulted crores of women in the country.

BJP President Shah said that they have come all together only for a show-biz adding that Azam Khan has passed disgusting comment on BJP candidate Jaya Prada which is an insult of "matrishakti" (motherhood). He said that the comment on her is not merely a comment on her rather a comment on crores of women in the country.

Amit Shah further said that SP, Mayawati and Rahul Gandhi should answer whether they agree with the comment passed by the SP leader Azam Khan or not. I demand an apology from SP, BSP and Khan and he should apologize to the crores of mothers in this country.

The SP leader Khan has passed a comment on BJP candidate Jaya Prada while addressing a rally in the presence of SP President Akhilesh Yadav. He said, "I brought Jaya Prada to Rampur. You are a witness that I did not allow anyone to touch her body. It took you 17 years to identify her real face but I got to know in 17 days that she wears khaki underwear."

However, the SP leader asserted that he did not name anyone and also said that he would withdraw his candidature from the ongoing polls if proved guilty.

The BJP candidate Jaya Prada had earlier represented the constituency of Rampur as a Samajwadi Party lawmaker and is now contesting from the same constituency from BJP.
