Bihar: In a truly astonishing and bizarre turn of events, a one-year-old toddler in Mohchhi Bankatwa village, Majhauliya block, bit a venomous cobra to death—and survived.
The child, Govinda, was playing outside his home on Friday afternoon when he encountered the deadly snake.
Moments later, Govinda lost consciousness, sending the family into panic. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors managed to stabilise him. To the doctors’ and villagers’ amazement, the toddler showed no serious effects of venom and is now out of danger, though still under observation.
Speaking to local reporters, Mateshwari Devi, the child's grandmother, recounted the shocking moment: “The snake came out, and the child hit it with something and then bit and killed it. It was a gehuaan (cobra). The child is just one year old.”
The incident has left the village stunned, with locals calling it nothing short of a miracle. While it remains unclear whether the cobra had time to bite or inject venom, experts say it’s incredibly rare for a child to survive such close contact with a venomous snake.
A similar case was reported from Gaya last year, where another toddler survived after biting a snake to death.
Doctors have warned parents to remain vigilant and ensure small children are kept away from potentially dangerous areas.
