LUCKNOW: Mahant Satyendra Das, revered chief priest of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, breathed his last on Wednesday morning at the age of 85; after suffering a stroke, he was admitted there on Sunday to the Neurology ICU of the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI). After being treated first at a private hospital in Ayodhya, his care was transferred to SGPGIH.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath arrived Tuesday evening at the SGPGIH, to inquire about Acharya Satyendra Das's condition, reflecting the high respect attached to the name of the spiritual leader. In addition to the stroke, Das had been managing serious health issues, including diabetes and hypertension.
