Mumbai: Popular comedian Bharti Singh and her husband, Haarsh Limbachiyaa are sent to judicial custody till December 4 in a drug case. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested the couple after seizing cannabis (ganja) from Bharti's office and their house.
The couple was produced at the Quilla court today. They were sent to judicial custody till December 4. Bharti has been taken to Kalyan jail and her husband has been taken to Taloja jail.
The NCB Zonal director, Sameer Wankhede said that the couple is arrested and only accused of consuming cannabis.
Bharti and Haarsh have applied for their bail, which is scheduled for a hearing on Monday.
Acting on a tip-off, the NCB launched a search operation in Bharti's office and house on Saturday morning. They seized 86.5 grams of ganja from both the places.
However, both Bharti and Haarsh have accepted that they consume ganja.
Bharti is a popular Indian comedian. She has been seen on various shows as a host.
The NCB has been running an inquiry on the consumption of illegal drugs in the entertainment industry since the death of Sushant Singh Rajput. During the SSR death probe, a number of WhatsApp chats surfaced involving drugs. The main accused of SSR death case, Bollywood actor Rhea Chakraborty was also arrested by NCB for being involved with illegal drugs.
