GUWAHATI: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has recently released weather reports about the average temperature in the month of March 2022.
As per the data by IMD, the Indian people have experienced the hottest days in the previous month of March this year.
Hottest March was seen in India since the year 1901 which means after 120 years the country saw such an increase in temperature during the month.
IMD stated that the average monthly temperature for March of the current year stands at 33.1 degree Celsius.
The average temperature of March 2022 has broken all the previous records including the all-time record of 33.09 degree Celsius of the year 2010.
In addition, IMD also reported the average rainfall across the country in March 2022 and as per the data the average precipitation is 71 percent less than its LPA (Long Period Average) of 30.4 mm.
The country as a whole recorded 8.9 mm of rainfall throughout the last month. The rain in the month of March 2022 was 3rd lowest since 1901 after 8.7 in 1908 and 7.2 mm in 1909.
The IMD reports stated that the average maximum temperature was seen at 33.10 degree Celsius which was 1.86 degree Celsius above the normal temperature.
The report further added that the average minimum temperature of 20.24 degree Celsius in the month was 3rd highest with a major difference of 1.37 degree Celsius.
Notably, the mean temperature in the previous month was 2nd highest with a difference of 1.61 degree Celsius since the year 1901.
According to the IMD report, the observations are made against the normal temperature of 18.87 degree Celsius, 25.06 degree Celsius and 31.24 degree Celsius based on the years 1981 to 2010.
Meanwhile, the mean temperature over the South Peninsular region saw its 4th highest with a difference of 0.59 degree Celsius since 1901.
It may be mentioned that according to the weather channel forecast, it is likely that some isolated regions in India will witness severe heatwave conditions from Sunday 3 April to Wednesday 6 April 2022.
