NEW DELHI: The French President underscored the significance of artificial intelligence (AI) as a global topic of discussion, involving countries like the US, China, India, and Gulf nations that play key roles in the development and regulation of AI technologies.

“Prime Minister Modi will be there immediately after the state visit to our country. This (the AI Summit) will enable us to have a dialogue with all the powers, IEA, US, China, and major nations such as India, which has a role to play as well as the Gulf States,” he said.

Macron emphasized that the summit would prioritize innovation, talent, and positioning France and Europe at the forefront of the global AI landscape.

The French Presidency earlier confirmed India’s invitation to the AI Action Summit in December, describing it as a “very important country.” A total of 90 countries, including India, have been invited to participate.

“We have invited India and are working very closely with India in the run-up to the summit. Misinformation and misuse of AI are themes that will be addressed,” the French Presidency stated.

“India is a very important country, particularly in terms of its potential to make a concrete impact on people’s lives. We look forward to India’s contributions to the summit’s various teams,” it added.

Prime Minister Modi’s most recent meeting with President Macron took place on November 18 during the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
