Shutdown Called by Separatist in Srinagar

Srinagar: A shutdown called by separatists on Monday affected life in Srinagar and some other places in the Kashmir Valley. The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), a separatist conglomerate headed by Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik, called the shutdown to highlight alleged human rights violations by the security forces. Shops, public transport and other business establishments remained closed in old city and uptown areas in the city. (IANS)
