GWALIOR: The incident relates to a shocking murder in the Gwalior city of the state of Madhya Pradesh where 20-year-old Tanu Gurjar was shot dead by her father, Mahesh Gurjar four days before her marriage. The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday evening around 9 PM in the Gola Ka Mandir area where Tanu had publicly expressed her desire to marry a man of her choice, opposing the marriage arranged by her family.

The confrontation escalated after Tanu shared a video on social media earlier that day, accusing her family of coercing her into an unwanted marriage. In the 52-second clip, she named her father and other relatives, stating, “I want to marry Vicky. My family initially agreed but later refused. They beat me daily and threaten to kill me.” Vicky, her partner of six years, resides in Agra, Uttar Pradesh.

Following the video's circulation, police, led by Superintendent Dharmveer Singh, arrived at Tanu's home to mediate the situation. Although she asked to be taken to a One-Stop Centre for safety, her father wanted to speak to her in private. In a shocking turn of events, Mahesh shot Tanu in the chest, while her cousin, Rahul, fired more shots, causing fatal injuries.

Mahesh has been arrested, and the weapon used in the crime has been recovered. Rahul has run away from the scene after threatening police and family members for more violence. The police are searching for him actively. The investigation continues as police review Tanu's social media accounts.
