A shocking incident of abuse and harassment has come into light wherein a video footage of an NCP woman leader has gone viral that shows she being thrashed by BJP legislator Balram Thawani. As alleged by the woman, she was being brutally beaten up by the political leader for protesting over the issue of water scarcity in the area. She has, later, lodged a complaint with police.

It was an incident of last Sunday that took place near Thawani’s office in Naroda. Unfortunately, much to the ill-luck of the BJP MLA, this entire incident was caught on camera by people present at the spot which made the truth to be unveiled and conveyed to all.

The woman assaulted by the MLA is identified as Nitu Tejwani while she was staging a protest along with other women demanding for the restoration of water pipeline. This is to be noted that the video footage shows Thawani stepping out of his office and kicking and thrashing the woman. In fact, the woman was already under attack by another man but he could not be identified as his back was turned towards the camera.

The victim, further narrates the unfortunate incident like this, “I went to meet Balram to discuss the lack of proper water in the area. Without saying anything, he (Balram) came and started slapping and thrashing me. When my husband saw this, he came to my rescue. Immediately, some of Balram’s supporters came from inside and started thrashing my husband with sticks. Ladies who were protesting along with me were also brutally beaten up by Balram and his supporters.”

The BJP MLA, later issued his clarification by stating, “My intention was not to harm them. It was unintentional. I condemn this act. I got swayed by emotions, I accept my mistake, and it was not intentional. I have been in politics for the last 22 years, such a thing has never happened before. I will say sorry to her.”

This incident led the NCP member to question the safety measures adopted by the Modi government for the women of the country.
