Arunachal: Forest officials rescue baby wild elephant in Deomali

Deomali forest officials in Arunachal Pradesh rescued a wild baby elephant trapped in a muddy pit for two days.

ITANAGAR: Forest officials at Deomali in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap district; have successfully rescued a wild baby elephant that had fallen into a muddy pit. Officials of the Deomali Forest Division rescued the baby elephant, likely to have been trapped for nearly two days on Sunday, a forest official said.

On receiving information from villagers, a team of forest personnel led by range forest officer Diwang Lowang immediately rushed to the site. The rescue operation, which lasted for around two hours, saw villagers joining hands with the department officials.

With their combined efforts, the baby elephant was successfully pulled out of the pit, believed to be a well, and was later guided back safely into the nearby forest.

The rescue team included foresters Kaling Libang, Leamkai Wangpan, Leki Ingo, forest guard OP Singh, and other staffers.
