ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) K T Parnaik on Sunday virtually inaugurated a war memorial in Longding district, dedicated to the memory of Lance Naik Agoi Wangsa, Shaurya Chakra (Posthumous), a brave son of the state who laid down his life in the line of duty. Paying heartfelt homage, the governor said the Indian Army, the state, and the entire nation salute the unmatched courage and supreme sacrifice of Lance Naik Wangsa.

He also expressed deep admiration for veer nari Koiman Wangsa, the late soldier's wife, lauding her strength and resilience. He assured the bereaved family that the state government remains committed to providing all necessary support.

"As we unveil this memorial today, it is my hope that it will stand as a lasting tribute to the courage, sacrifice, and service of our heroes, past, present, and future," Parnaik said.

Describing the occasion as both solemn and proud, he emphasised that the memorial is not just a structure of remembrance but a symbol of inspiration for generations. He called on all citizens to honour the legacy of India's brave soldiers and stand firmly beside their families.

The governor highlighted the district's proud military heritage, noting its long tradition of producing courageous men and women who serve in the Armed Forces. The significant presence of ex-servicemen in the region, he said, reflects the deep patriotic spirit embedded in the community.

"The War Memorial is not just a monument. It is a call to duty, honour, and sacrifice," he remarked and praised the people of the state, especially in border districts like Longding, for their unwavering support to the nation in times of need, calling military service a sacred tradition passed down through generations.
