ITANAGAR: A labourer who was shot at a construction site at Roing in Lower Dibang Valley district of Arunachal Pradesh, succumbed to his injuries at the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) in Naharlagun, near here, on Monday, police said.
The deceased, identified as Shankar Pegu of Borajuli village in Assam’s Biswanath district, was allegedly shot in the head by one Tadar Bhai following a heated argument over a financial dispute, Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) Chukhu Apa informed.
Following the incident, the accused transported Pegu from Roing to TRIHMS for treatment. However, Pegu died of his injuries on Monday morning.
The accused, a resident of Sagalee in Papum Pare district, has been arrested. A police team from Lower Dibang Valley later took him into custody, the IGP added. Pegu is survived by his parents, wife, and two daughters.
