Itanagar: In a crucial move to ensure disaster readiness ahead of the south-west monsoon, Lower Siang deputy commissioner Rujjum Rakshap on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting with administrative officers, department heads, and representatives from the Indian Army, ITBP and BRTF stationed here.
The focus was on assessing the district’s preparedness and formulating an effective and responsive disaster management plan (DMP).
Emphasising the vulnerability of Likabali and the district to natural disasters, Rakshap, who is also the district disaster management authority (DDMA) chairman, urged all departments and stakeholders to stay alert and updated.
He stressed the need for advanced, well-coordinated planning that can activate swiftly in the event of any disaster.
Departments have been asked to update their contingency plans, compile resource inventories, and maintain close coordination with the district administration.
Rakshap also underscored the importance of synchronizing the efforts of all agencies to ensure the safety and well-being of residents during disaster scenarios.
