ITANAGAR: In a bid to strengthen the infrastructure and functioning of key state departments, Information & Public Relations (IPR) and Printing, Minister Nyato Dukam chaired the first Consultative Committee meeting of the departments here.

Addressing the meeting, Dukam assured that he would personally brief Chief Minister Pema Khandu on the pressing issues faced by both departments. He highlighted the urgent requirement for a web offset printing machine to facilitate the printing of NCERT textbooks and help mitigate the recurring shortage of school books in the state.

Commending the ongoing efforts of both departments, Dukam emphasised the crucial role of the IPR department in disseminating government policies and programmes to the public. He called for innovative strategies in public communication and effective implementation of media policies.

“The departments must become more vibrant and bring their contributions into the public limelight,” he said.

Senior officials from both departments presented detailed reports on their current activities and outlined major challenges, particularly those related to infrastructure gaps, manpower shortages, and resource constraints.

They also underscored the importance of modernization and capacity building to improve operational efficiency.
