ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Pradesh Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (SDE) department has entered into a strategic partnership with Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) to provide advanced skill training for the state’s youth. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed at L&T’s Construction Skill Training Institute (CSTI) at Jadcherla, in Telangana.

The MoU was formally signed by state SDE Director Sibo Passing and Head of the construction skill training department at L&T, J Raghuraman. The signing ceremony took place during a visit by state Skill Development & Entrepreneurship minister Nyato Dukam, accompanied by his advisor Dr Mahesh Chai and SDE commissioner Saugat Biswas. Under this agreement, L&T will train over 500 young individuals from the state in its CSTI campus. The initiative aims to provide both classroom-based training and on-the-job training (OJT) in high-demand construction trades.

The programme also targets students from Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and is designed to prepare them for careers in infrastructure and construction.

Currently, 37 trainees from across Arunachal are already undergoing intensive training in key trades such as electrician, welder, surveyor, and civil draughtsman.

To mark the official launch of the programme, Dukam participated in a plantation drive on the CSTI campus. He, along with other officials, toured the institute’s modern labs, workshops, and residential facilities, and interacted with the trainees.

The minister encouraged the students to make full use of the opportunity and prepare for employment both in India and abroad. Dukam also reaffirmed the state government’s dedication to youth empowerment through skill development and entrepreneurship, urging trainees to seize new employment avenues and lay a strong foundation for their future. Advisor Dr Chai called the initiative a gateway to rewarding careers, both nationally and internationally. He praised the department’s ongoing efforts and stressed the importance of upskilling vocational instructors at institutes like CSTI.
