Arunachal Pradesh: Accused In UPI Fraud Case Arrested By Nirjuli Police

A person who was accused of stealing a purse was arrested by the police in Nirjuli, Arunachal Pradesh. The 27-year-old accused individual admitted to stealing the purse and consuming drugs regularly.

NIRJULI: An individual who was accused of theft was arrested by the police in Nirjuli, Arunachal Pradesh on December 14. A woman claimed that on November 13, her handbag—which had Rs 15,000 in cash, a cell phone, and a SIM card connected to her SBI account—was taken from her vehicle. A complaint was filed regarding the same.

Between November 15 and 17, unapproved UPI transactions of about Rs 14,000 were made using her associated bank account. A case was filed under Section 303(2) BNS at Nirjuli Police Station in response to the complaint.

The stolen cell phone was recovered after the investigation, and it was identified as being owned by a woman who had bought it from the accused person. The accused person, who was identified as 27-year-old Nor Seeh from Peso of Raka Village, Keyi Panyor, admitted to stealing the purse and consuming drugs regularly.

Interrogation revealed that the accused and his accomplice conducted UPI transactions in Ziro, Lower Subansiri, generated OTPs, and altered the GPay password in return for cash. Mihin Gambo, Naharlagun SP, praised the Nirjuli police team's quick response in resolving the case and reclaiming the stolen goods.

The public has been advised by SP Gambo to exercise caution, make sure that cars are safely locked when parked, and notify the local police station of any instances right away.
