Arunachal Pradesh Governor B.D. Mishra bats for early completion

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (retd) Dr B.D. Mishra has stressed on early completion of the strategic Miao-Vijoynagar Road in Changlang district during a high-level meeting that he chaired to review the progress of this road.

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, RWD Minister HonchunNgandam and Food & Civil Supplies Minister KamlungMosang attended the meeting.

The Governor said that many places in the State have huge tourism potential. The flora and fauna added to the mesmerising scenic beauty are of immense interest to the tourists, environmentalists and adventure sports persons, he added.

"The Vijoynagar area located in the eastern tip of the State has enormous potential for wildlife, adventure, eco and cultural tourism. To harness these aspects of tourism, the Miao-Vijoynagar Road should be completed at the earliest," he stressed.

Dr Mishra reiterated that with a good road, the conservation of the famed Namdapha National Park would be better and easier in addition to maintaining the national security. He asked the Deputy Chief Minister for adequate and regular funding of the road project, which he said would generate State revenues in the future due to tourism and economic activities of the local people of the area. The Governor also advised the RWD Minister for proper supervision as the department is implementing the road project under 'PradhanMantriGraminSadakYojana'.

The road will connect a number of rural villages between Miao and Vijoynagar. Inviting people's involvement for facilitating timely implementation of the road, the Governor asked local MLA Mosang to ensure smooth progress of the work.
