Arunachal Pradesh: Ramanujan Remembered on National Mathematics Day

ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science and Technology (APSCS&T) today observed National Mathematics Day at the Arunachal Pradesh Science Centre, honouring the legacy of Srinivasa Ramanujan.

The theme of the day was "Mathematics: The Bridge to Innovation and Progress."

The event commenced with a lamp lighting ceremony and a floral tribute to Ramanujan. Dr. P. Lombi, Deputy Director, Scientist-D, APSCS&T, welcomed the attendees. Neelam Kuma, Section Officer, APSCS&T, outlined the objectives of the day.

Joram Arun, Lecturer at Rajiv Gandhi Government Polytechnic College, delivered the keynote address, highlighting the significance of mathematics in everyday life and its interdisciplinary applications. He presented his research on the mathematical structures within the naming patterns of the Galo tribe of Arunachal Pradesh.

Joram Muthu, Joint Director of Higher & Technical Education, emphasized the crucial role of mathematics in driving innovation and scientific advancement. He encouraged students to embrace mathematical thinking to excel in various fields and contribute to the state's and nation's progress. The celebration included an awards ceremony for winners of painting, quiz, and model-making competitions held recently, involving approximately 200 students from schools across the Itanagar Capital Region.
