GUWAHATI/ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker P.D. Sona during his visit to Guwahati for attending the 'North East Region Commonwealth Parliamentary Association' (NERCPA) Zone-III conference, paid a visit to a school being managed by Akshar Foundation at Pamohi near here recently.

The Speaker who arrived at Guwahati on Monday visited the institution. He was accompanied by Deputy Resident Officer (DRC), Guwahati and other officials. During the visit, the Speaker interacted with the founding members and trustees of the Foundation.

Lauding the yeoman services of Akshar Foundation through unique teaching-learning concepts, the Speaker urged them to explore more innovative ideas to help the needy children. Later, the Speaker handed over gifts for the children.

Meanwhile, co-founder of Akshar Foundation Mazin Mukhtar briefed the media about the foundation and its visions. He informed the Speaker that the Foundation's vision is to eradicate poverty through quality education.

"In addition to conventional schooling, here the students learn how to earn a living, run a business, and maintain their environment", he added.

Akshar Foundation is a non-profit organization and runs a school which accepts plastic waste as school fees and imparts not just education but also vocational skills to its students.

Akshar's model of education, which is recognized by the United Nations, helps students move through the curriculum based on their skill level, rather than their age.
