Itanagar: A teacher from Assam has been arrested for the alleged sexual assault of a minor student of Siang Valley Residential School at Tuting, in Upper Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh on January 5. The arrest was made on the basis of a complaint lodged by the mother of the victim on January 5, alleging that the accused had repeatedly molested the victim in December last year.
Upper Siang Superintendent of Police (SP) Token Saring informed that on January 5 a written FIR was received at the Tuting police station from the victim’s mother, alleging that her minor daughter studying in Siang Valley School had been subjected to sexual abuse, rape, torture, and threats by her school teacher. The 25-year-old accused, who teaches mathematics, was arrested on the same day, the SP said. On January 6, enraged locals had gathered outside the Tuting Police Station seeking arrest of the school principal as well, saying it could not have happened without his knowledge. The situation was later brought under control as the police assured the agitators of justice in the matter, the SP added.
