ITANAGAR: Flash floods triggered by heavy rainfall caused widespread damage in Arunachal Pradesh's Upper Subansiri district, washing away two key bridges and disrupting connectivity in several villages under Nilling and Giba circles.
Officials said an RCC bridge at Nyo Koro near Ningping village under Nilling circle was washed away on Thursday, cutting an important PMGSY link between Chetam circle and villages under Nilling. In Ningping village, seven kutcha houses and one pucca house suffered extensive damage, while agricultural fields, livestock and other properties were also affected.
Another bridge linking Longte village with Giba headquarters was washed away, severing road connectivity to villages beyond Wrge.
The district administration began assessing the damage and initiated restoration and relief measures. The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) also issued an advisory urging people to avoid rivers and flood-prone areas.
